The Maskers Theatre Company presents
‘ The Comedy of Errors’

by William Shakespeare
The Maskers Theatre Company

We are delighted to welcome The Maskers Theatre Company to Hamptworth for their very first visit. The Maskers have been established for 39 years and currently have over 150 members and friends. In addition to their own 50 seat studio theatre, they regularly perform in the Nuffield Theatre and the mediaeval Tudor Merchants Hall in Southampton. www.maskers.org.uk

For the last 26 years, the Maskers Theatre Company has drawn huge audiences to their outdoor summer productions at Mottisfont Abbey near Romsey. Due to a change of policy at Mottisfont, the Maskers had to find new premises and we were thrilled when Hamptworth was chosen as the replacement venue. For 2008, the production will be a rip roaring romp through Shakespeare’s ‘The Comedy of Errors’ complete with a Turkish Bazaar and loads of slapstick humour. A riot of mistaken identity, frenetic action and hilarious consequences with the happiest of happy endings.

The play takes place in the beautiful gardens of Hamptworth Lodge with its mediaeval archery lawn and cascading terrace. Patrons will be able to picnic in the grounds before the play and during the interval.

The play will run from Wednesday 16th to Saturday 26th July ( except Monday 21st July ). Grounds open at 6.00pm and the performance starts at 7.45pm.
Tickets are now on sale from the Mayflower

The house was designed by the architect Sir Guy Dawber,
possibly to the design of the original 1620s house and the gardens surrounding the Lodge are
beautifully manicured even boasting an original English Archery lawn.
