If the weather is going to be anything like 2012, start queuing early for your ice creams and pints of cider !

Hamptworth Lodge will be open for viewing for a period during the morning. What better time to come and view than during its centenary.

We have new attractions aimed specifically at the younger generation and we think they’re going to love them. The first of these to be announced is a traditional Punch and Judy show with all the fabulous characters that come with it. There are further exciting announcements to follow. Watch this space !!!

The Cricket pavilion in the middle of the estate can be made available as a summer venue for smaller groups. It’s ideal as a base for a teambuilding day and it’s surrounded by trees and parkland where we can organise a host of country pursuits from falconry and dog displays to clay pigeon shooting, archery and off road driving. If guests feel so inclined, you cam also organise a game of cricket. OK, so it may not be Lords but it will be great fun anyway !!

Why is James 1st prancing around in Anne Boleyn’s coronation dress ? And what is Anne up to in the woods with William Tyndale ?

Hamptworth Lodge Gardens to open on Sunday 9th June 2013

Having been modified by the present owner’s ancestor in the 1860′s the Georgian house was partially dismantled in the early part of the 20th century and the present Tudor style house built between 1910 – 1913 principally to house the owners Elizabethan Tudor furniture on which he was an acknowledged expert. At the same time, the owner Harold Moffatt retained Thomas Mawson ( 1861 – 1933) to work with his architect Sir Guy Dawber to redesign the garden in a suitable and compatible style to compliment the Tudor style of Hamptworth Lodge.

Originally dating from the early 17th century but professional historical research indicates there could possibly have been a garden on this site in the early 12th century. With the construction of a late Georgian house in the early part of the 19th century, a garden layout very similar to that of today was almost certainly put in place at the same time.

Afternoon tea will be available in the garden and the opening hours are 10.00am until 4.00pm. Admission – £4.00 per person
