In addition to Hamptworth Falconry, we are also delighted to be able to offer our owl experience sessions. New for 2008, we are offering the unique opportunity to get up close and personal with our superb collection of owls drawn from six different species. They range in stature from the diminutive burrowing owls of South America to the magnificent Bengal Eagle owls of India. Of course no owl experience would be complete without contact with our own native Barn and Tawny owls. All of our owls have been around people since they first hatched from their eggs and are therefore relaxed and happy to be in company with our staff and clients alike..
The owl experience session here at Hamptworth starts off with an introduction to our owls where you will get to meet each and every one of them and learn a little bit about their life both with us and in the wild.
Then after some very simple basic handling instruction, it is time to experience the thrill first hand as you fly them loose and have them return to your gloved fist.
Mid way through our session we will have a short break for refreshments then it is on again to enjoy some more hands on fun.
There will be ample opportunities for photographs and our staff will be more than happy to help with queries or any special wishes you may have.
The house was designed by the architect
Sir Guy Dawber,
possibly to the design of the original 1620s house and the gardens surrounding
the Lodge are
beautifully manicured even boasting an original English Archery
lawn.
